The Flow-through Cutting Table consists of a thin-wall aluminum honeycomb-core evenly supported by an underlying hollow structure. The target material is placed on the honeycomb core. When excess laser power passes the lower surface of the target material during a laser cutting process, this excess power is passed into the supporting structure where it is absorbed in an unfocused state.

Class 4 Conversion Module (Enabling Pass-Through)

The patented Class 4 Conversion Module is an option that allows the user to quickly and easily convert a laser system between a fully enclosed Class 1 operation and an open Class 4 operation. This allows the user to place oversized objects in the laser system or pass continuous objects such as rolls of material or conveyor systems through the laser system.

Configurable Cutting Table (Pin Table)

HPDFO™

ULS offers customers the ability to drastically improve marking and engraving resolution, to directly mark onto some metals, and to increase the range of materials which can be cut with a CO2 laser system. This is accomplished through ULS patented HPDFO™, which focuses the laser’s energy into a much smaller area than is possible with standard lenses. The HPDFO™ option includes a collimator which minimizes divergence across the laser processing area producing more consistent focal spot size and energy density. A collimator is required for HPDFO™ to function.

1-Touch Laser Photo™ is an innovative product for converting digital photographs into bitmap files that can be used to engrave the image into materials. This transforms an ordinary photograph into a professional quality engraving. Prior to 1-Touch this was possible only by experimenting with halftone screens, dithering patterns, and laser settings – an expensive and time consuming methodology.

Direct File Import/
Industry Standard Interchange Format Support

In addition to standard print drivers, ULS offers a Direct File Import option that enables users to import certain types of files directly into the laser system control software, without the need to print from any third party software.

High Value Intelligent Materials Database Subscription

This enhanced database subscription works with the Intelligent Materials Database and provides settings for many additional (largely industrial) materials. The Intelligent Materials Database and the associated materials-based print driver give you the choice of automatic or manual control over power, speed, pulses per inch, and other system settings for many additional (largely industrial) materials.

Collimator

The Collimator expands and collimates the laser beam, minimizing divergence across the laser processing area producing more consistent focal spot size and energy density.

LCD Display

PLS/ILS laser systems come equipped with an onboard LCD display, allowing you to move the motion system and Z-axis manually during setup or to change job settings on the fly. This function is useful when determining optimal settings for new applications.

Manual Air Assist (with Optics Protection)

Air Assist with Optics Protection creates positive air pressure around all optics and directs compressed air onto the surface of the material being processed. This compressed air keeps debris and particulate and fumes away from the optics, suppresses combustion of fumes, reduces accumulation of particulate on material surface, and increases cut quality on most materials.

Multiple Automatic Focusing Methods

All Universal laser systems can be focused automatically based on material thickness or by using a convenient manual focusing tool. Some Universal laser systems can also be automatically focused using special sensors to detect the top surface of the material being laser processed.

Over-Temp Alarm (for fire safety)

An over temperature alarm installed in every Universal laser system monitors the temperature of the work area. If an unusually high temperature is detected the system will turn off the laser and trigger an audible alarm.
